Hi everyone! My name is Devyn Reeves and you can call me "Dev" for short. I am a junior majoring in Psychology with a minor in Education. I currently work for FSU Campus Rec as a Facility Supervisor and I do mentor and environmental volunteer work outside of my academic career. As of right now, I will be graduating in Fall 2021 and will pursue a Masters Degree in Counseling as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
My prior experiences involving technology are decent. I have used the Microsoft apps/software to present/teach classes with projects or demonstrations. I also use NVivo, which is a coding software used in a research lab that I am a research assistant for in Educational Psychology. Other than these technological experiences, I consider myself an amateur with technology in general. I look forward to learning how to use more software, websites, and my pc in this class.
The Personal Leaning Networks I use on a daily basis are: my LinkedIn account and personal connections (professors, peers, colleagues, and lab coordinator). These PLNs all have their strengths and weaknesses but overall, benefit me as a student and someone looking for helpful connections to ensure I have plans for the future. The PLNs I listed above also foster new learning methods when it comes to networking and allow me to expand these relationships I build online/offline. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, it is harder to build offline PLNs because of the conditions of our country. I have found myself relying on the online PLNs for communication and connections more than I would like.
Hey Dev! We graduate at the same time! I am also applying for graduate school (law school to be exact). The process is nerve-wrecking to me. How are you (or how did you) staying on top of your graduate application?

ReplyDeleteHi there, Dev! I find it very impressive and admirable that you are doing so much counseling work. As someone who prioritizes mental health - especially when it comes to students - I think that the academic/career path you are on is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAlso, one of my minors is Education as well! I actually hope to reform the education system in America one day. What are your education-related goals?
