Teacher pages on school websites show me (publicly) teacher information such as: contact info, interests, and their grade level. These basic pieces of information allow students and parents to see the teacher and have a small introduction to them and their classroom. It is important to have this sort of data available publicly to allow parents and students to reach out to the teachers and discuss any questions that come to mind. The websites should be easy to navigate and sorted by grade-level/subjects depending on the school, its county, and district. I observed my old elementary school and went through the different staff pages throughout the site.  Parkwood Heights Elementary     As a future teacher, I would use productive technology tools such as PowerPoint and Kahoot would also be a tool I would use for older elementary children (grades 3-5) for them to interact with and learn through engagement of contests/quizzes. PowerPoint would be a tool to ...

At first, I did not like Diigo. It was weird to use and difficult to navigate. Almost too tedious! But after a quick lesson on its use, I was able to figure out how to publish bookmarks and comment on the articles while also annotating them. It's a good technological tool to use while doing research and I recommend it now to my friends!      Blogging is okay. I forget to do it until the day of but it's never hard. I think it can be hard to blog only when I do not have much to say. Other than that, it is a good record of keeping track of assignments, material learned, and how other students think. Blogging is a useful technique with keeping up with others.     A Web 2.0 tool I would use to teach my students would be NVivo. It is definitely an advanced tool I would teach older students/college educated people to use. It can help you code your learning material while also adding annotations to the content. Its use is similar to Diigo with the annotati...

I have used Twitter for about 7 years now. I have only used it for recreational purposes (entertainment, sports, news, etc.), and I am aware that some people use it for professional purposes. My account for this class has been useful in the sense that I use it to connect with communities that share the same interests as me that include promoting mental health awareness and the importance of culture in the classroom (educational Twitter accounts and discussions). For the future, I think Twitter will be able to help me with career building like LinkedIn does with making connections via interests.     Reading about digital divide and its role in the classroom was very eye opening to me. Although I attended a Title 3 school in Jacksonville, FL, compared to other students, I acknowledge the privilege I had concerning my access to technology. Our school was fortunate enough to be supplied classroom laptops to carry out our online work and I was able to do these ...

From the Standards and Technology Matrices for ELA, I chose to focus on grade 4 and LAFS.4.RL.3.7 standard which includes making connections from ELA medias via visual or oral presentation. I feel prepared to implement this strategy because, I consider myself well versed in presentation skills and its uses. Instead of using iMovie, I would teach the students how to make presentations with Prezi and/or PowerPoint on making connections to multiple types of media with basic presentation skills and uses. My current skill set is applicable to what the standard entails and accommodates to both visual and auditory strategies of learning.     From the CPALMS Teacher Skill Section, I chose grade level 4, ELA LAFS.4.RI.1.1 which is about teaching students how to draw certain inferences from the text and comprehending the examples from the media. One of the resources that I found interesting in this section included students learning about online technology through e...
