I currently use data collection such as Qualtric surveys for experiments in my recent psychology courses. The subject matter I would continue to use surveys for would be for math and science, at any grade level. For advanced use, I would use surveys in high school grade levels for individual experiments that the students can use to conduct their own research and be prepared for data collection in college courses. Data collection is an essential topic for nearly all areas of school subjects.     After reviewing my classmates' blogs, the most interesting topics I found were about the digital divide. I think it is important to address this topic as students with diverse backgrounds and history of technology use and access. In order to become effective and inclusive teachers, each of my peers discussed methods in integrating technology into the classroom and suggested different ways in which students, parents, and even teachers can use technology inside the sch...

My experience as a distance learner has been a journey. At first, I was very reluctant to the change it brought to my learning/studying methods compared to being an in-person student before COVID-19. However, after some time, I have "warmed-up" to my distance learner position and have constructed some sort of rough routine to this lifestyle. What I dislike about being a distance learner is my lack of human contact. I have not been able to be as motivated to do my work because of the initial COVID-19 restrictions to being on campus and utilizing the library/classroom settings. As a teacher, I hope to be able to collaborate with my students on the syllabus schedule and classroom expectations because online learning has proved to be more demanding and challenging to engage and ensure students are doing work (constantly).      Open Educational Resources are learning resources that anyone can access and utilize for whatever purpose(s) and found online. "Op...

1. The time it took in working with my Web Design Assignment was tedious. Overall, the experience was interesting and I found the skills to be very applicable with all of my uses of software and websites: trial and error. My website design turned out to be aesthetically pleasing to me and easy to navigate. Next time, I want to go above and beyond with extra gadgets and buttons on my site for children/parents to use.  Devyn's Website 2. Some new skills I have learned from Diigo are: bookmarking and expanding my annotation skills. I find it very useful to annotate everything I read when conducting research or completing assignments because the knowledge tends to stick with me when I take notes. The tools supplied by Diigo can be shared and my annotations may help people. All in all, Diigo grew on me after further use. 3. I believe teachers and students are equally at the forefront of driving innovative educational technology uses for the future (in different ways). Teachers hold the ...

Teacher pages on school websites show me (publicly) teacher information such as: contact info, interests, and their grade level. These basic pieces of information allow students and parents to see the teacher and have a small introduction to them and their classroom. It is important to have this sort of data available publicly to allow parents and students to reach out to the teachers and discuss any questions that come to mind. The websites should be easy to navigate and sorted by grade-level/subjects depending on the school, its county, and district. I observed my old elementary school and went through the different staff pages throughout the site.  Parkwood Heights Elementary     As a future teacher, I would use productive technology tools such as PowerPoint and Kahoot would also be a tool I would use for older elementary children (grades 3-5) for them to interact with and learn through engagement of contests/quizzes. PowerPoint would be a tool to ...

At first, I did not like Diigo. It was weird to use and difficult to navigate. Almost too tedious! But after a quick lesson on its use, I was able to figure out how to publish bookmarks and comment on the articles while also annotating them. It's a good technological tool to use while doing research and I recommend it now to my friends!      Blogging is okay. I forget to do it until the day of but it's never hard. I think it can be hard to blog only when I do not have much to say. Other than that, it is a good record of keeping track of assignments, material learned, and how other students think. Blogging is a useful technique with keeping up with others.     A Web 2.0 tool I would use to teach my students would be NVivo. It is definitely an advanced tool I would teach older students/college educated people to use. It can help you code your learning material while also adding annotations to the content. Its use is similar to Diigo with the annotati...

I have used Twitter for about 7 years now. I have only used it for recreational purposes (entertainment, sports, news, etc.), and I am aware that some people use it for professional purposes. My account for this class has been useful in the sense that I use it to connect with communities that share the same interests as me that include promoting mental health awareness and the importance of culture in the classroom (educational Twitter accounts and discussions). For the future, I think Twitter will be able to help me with career building like LinkedIn does with making connections via interests.     Reading about digital divide and its role in the classroom was very eye opening to me. Although I attended a Title 3 school in Jacksonville, FL, compared to other students, I acknowledge the privilege I had concerning my access to technology. Our school was fortunate enough to be supplied classroom laptops to carry out our online work and I was able to do these ...

From the Standards and Technology Matrices for ELA, I chose to focus on grade 4 and LAFS.4.RL.3.7 standard which includes making connections from ELA medias via visual or oral presentation. I feel prepared to implement this strategy because, I consider myself well versed in presentation skills and its uses. Instead of using iMovie, I would teach the students how to make presentations with Prezi and/or PowerPoint on making connections to multiple types of media with basic presentation skills and uses. My current skill set is applicable to what the standard entails and accommodates to both visual and auditory strategies of learning.     From the CPALMS Teacher Skill Section, I chose grade level 4, ELA LAFS.4.RI.1.1 which is about teaching students how to draw certain inferences from the text and comprehending the examples from the media. One of the resources that I found interesting in this section included students learning about online technology through e...
