I currently use data collection such as Qualtric surveys for experiments in my recent psychology courses. The subject matter I would continue to use surveys for would be for math and science, at any grade level. For advanced use, I would use surveys in high school grade levels for individual experiments that the students can use to conduct their own research and be prepared for data collection in college courses. Data collection is an essential topic for nearly all areas of school subjects.
After reviewing my classmates' blogs, the most interesting topics I found were about the digital divide. I think it is important to address this topic as students with diverse backgrounds and history of technology use and access. In order to become effective and inclusive teachers, each of my peers discussed methods in integrating technology into the classroom and suggested different ways in which students, parents, and even teachers can use technology inside the school and outside. It is essential to understand that not everyone has the same experiences with technology and that must be taken into account.
A technology-related skill I would like to learn next is to become more familiar with Excel. Although I am a STEM major, Excel still seems to be out of reach for me. I use it every week for simple purposes but I would like to be more familiar with the software app. To achieve this goal, I will continue to expand my current skills and ask TAs for guidance because, I am a Psychology major that uses statistics and data collection in lab reports. Excel is a software we commonly use.
